KATHY GUTHRIE
Fourth Grade Teacher

I’m looking forward to another great year at Manzanita Public Charter School!

I am the proud parent of a Manzanita Scholar and have actively supported the school since 2008 when my daughter became a part of the first kindergarten class. I love this school and the ideals it represents. It’s been a privilege to belong to this school community and watch it grow and now I look forward to continue teaching our children.

I grew up in Lompoc where I attended Fillmore Elementary, Lompoc Junior High (it’s now called Lompoc Valley Middle School), and graduated from Lompoc Senior High School. Afterwards, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State College and later attended Cal State Dominguez Hills where I received my teaching credential in Elementary Education. I taught third and fourth grade at Lafayette Elementary School in Long Beach.

I met my husband, Patrick, in Long Beach and when I asked him where he grew up he said, “Oh, a little town north of Santa Barbara called Lompoc.” It must have been meant to be! When our daughter, Dorothy, was born I took a break from teaching and together we chose to move back to Lompoc because we both felt this is the community in which we want to raise our daughter.

Teaching is an outstanding and gratifying profession and now I’m ready to resume my career as a part of the Manzanita team!
