Hi, my name is Martha Garcia. I have been here at Manzanita since 2009 teaching Kinder and first grade. I have enjoyed being in kínder for so many years that now I am ready for a new experience as a 2nd grade teacher. I was born in Leon , Guanajuato , Mexico but my family of seven brothers and sisters and my mother came to the United States when I was five years old. I remember it was not easy adjusting to a new language and a new culture but with the help of my teachers and being in bilingual education gave confidence to succeed in school.

 

I was the first of 10 brothers and sisters to graduate from Allan Hancock College and from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. I received my Bachelors and Masters in Reading and Literacy. I began my teaching career in 2003 at another elementary school. However, when I came here to Manzanita I fell in love with the school. I have been happily married for 26 years and have three beautiful daughters. Yanelly, Sarai and Miah. I am excited that I get to work with TK through sixth grade students and to be able to get to know more families this coming school year.

Hola mi nombre es Martha García. He estado aquí en Manzanita desde el 2009 enseñando Kínder y primer grado. He disfrutado muchísimo haber estado tantos años en kínder que ahora estoy lista para comenzar un nueva experiencia siendo maestra de segundo grado. Yo nací en León Guanajuato, México pero mi familia de 5 hermanos y 3 hermanas emigramos a los estados unidos con mi madre cuando tenia 5 años. Recuerdo que no fue fácil ajustarme al idioma y a una nueva cultura.

 

Gracias a que estuve en el programa bilingüe y con la ayuda de mis maestros pude tener la confianza de aprender con facilidad y hacer la transición al ingles. Fui la primera en mi familia de 10 en graduarme del Colegio Allan Hancock College y de Cal Poly en San Luis Obispo con mi Maestría en Lectura y Escritura. Comencé mi carrera de maestra en 2003 en otra escuela pero al llegar aquí a Manzanita me enamore de todo lo que esta escuela ofrece y estado aquí desde entonces. He estado casada por 26 anos y tengo 3 hijas, Yanelly, Sarai y Miah. Me da mucha emoción saber que enseñare a estudiantes de TK hasta sexto grado y poder tener el placer de conocer mas familias esta próximo aña escolar.
