KATHERINE FRANSON
Principal
Kat Franson began her career in education 22 years ago. She has been an educator and parent in the charter school system for most of her career and fell in love with the flexibility that charter school educators have to reach the unique needs of their scholars. She became a reading specialist and fell in love with teaching young children the foundational skills they need to for the rest of their lives. Kat is a scholar centered educational leader that believes all children deserve a high quality of education in an environment where they feel safe and loved. In 2020, Kat became the Assistant Principal at Manzanita Public Charter School and now serves in her second year of being Principal at MPCS.
Kat earned a B.S. in Social Sciences and an M.A. in Teaching from Chapman University. She is trained as a reading specialist and earned her Administrative Credential in 2018. She has taught Kindergarten through eighth grades in the private, charter, and traditional school settings.
When Kat isn’t at school, you can find her spending time with her husband (Kevin)of twenty years, and their 4 children. Weekends are typically spent cheering on their children who play many different sports throughout the year. As a family, they love to hike, hang out at the beach, host family movie nights, and every week they enjoy Sunday Night Dinner together.
