My name is Sheryl Buzzelli, and I am thrilled to be teaching third grade at Manzanita again this year! This is my fourth year at Manzanita, and I think that it is a wonderful, positive place for scholars and teachers to be everyday.
I was born and raised in New York and lived there until I moved to Boston to attend college. After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology along with a minor in Psychology and Spanish, I was not sure what career path I wanted to pursue but began a quest to find my passion. I started off at a marketing company where I enjoyed using my creative side. After that, I worked at a software company where I learned how much I enjoyed teaching since my primary role was training clients. It was then that I also started thinking about the fact that all my previous jobs involved working with children, and I missed that! Throughout my high school and college years, I worked with kids through many different tutoring, babysitting, and summer camp jobs. I decided to combine my creativity, love for teaching, and love for working with children to become an elementary school teacher. I pursued a master's program in elementary education and completed it in May 2010.
One month after graduating, I married my wonderful husband and we moved to Lompoc since he was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base at the time. He was thrilled about the move since he is originally from this area, but it was a big change for me since I had always lived in the northeast. My husband completed 10 years in the Air Force last year and recently finished an Executive MBA program. We have a precious 1 year old son who brings joy and laughter to our lives everyday.
I am looking forward to another amazing year in third grade, which will certainly be filled with many memorable bucket-filling experiences. I also look forward to challenging each and every scholar, helping them develop a love of learning, gain confidence and form positive relationships in the classroom.
